KeywordIndex performance / multiunion

A simple query for ["A" or "B" or "C"] against a KeywordIndex containing 27k objects is taking about 7 seconds on a Celeron 1.6Ghz, which seems an absurdly long time to me. The bit of the operation that is taking the time is the part of the index which does a union of the results of each of the 3 query parameters. Reproducing this BTree union operation outside Zope in a unit test takes milliseconds. Very occasionally it takes milliseconds inside the KeywordIndex too. Something to do with memory usage perhaps? I'll continue looking into it. But main the reason I'm posting is to wonder if there any reason not to use the multiunion operator instead of the union operator in UnIndex.py... it should be faster, right? It seems a touch faster in some informal tests. Seb

CMF: _getViewFor() problem

Hi folks I'm attempting to use Plone with CMF 1.4.2 and Zope 2.7b2. I'm getting errors in PloneFolder.__call__() where I first substituted the call to the local (PloneFolder) _getViewFor() with that of the one in CMFCore.utils (since in its original state, the local _getViewFor() failed because it thought action was a dict). This fails because CMFCore.utils._getViewFor() returns the original PloneFolder object - which gets __call__()ed again until we run out of stack. I also see this behaviour with my own custom folder class. I then tried fixing the PloneFolder._getViewFor() so it treated action as an object. This function now fails in the call to restrictedTraverse(action.action) where the incoming path is expected to be a list or string, not an action object. Being something of a newcomer to CMF, Plone et al, I have to say I'm a bit stuck at the moment. Do I have to roll back to earlier versions of CMF/Plone/Zope, or is there a quick fix? What would be _really_ handy is if some knowledgeable individual could offer a brief explanation of the purpose of _getViewFor(). I'm kind of enjoying poking around in all this code, but its taking way longer than I budgeted. Any info gratefully received. Thanks Mark

I started to program for Zope and have found out, that some commands in Python have been excluded. I miss command dir(). Whether there is any opportunity to replace it? CookieCrumbler and WebDAV

CookieCrumbler doesn't seem to allow cookie authenticifation over WebDAV. It stops authentication if the request is not PUT, GET or POST and also it stops anything over the webdav source port. Anybody knows WHY? I took this code for my Cookie Identification plugin for PLuggableUserFolder, so it does the same, but we now have a client whos WebDAV client seems to try to use cookies, adn that fails of course.

debugging memory leaks

I've got a fairly major memory leak in my application. I've followed the thread from August including Shane's suggestions about using a debug build of Python to inspect object references and the rest [1] I know from the refcounts in Zope that items of class Foo are definitely leaking, yet when I do a sys.getobjects(0, Foo) I get nothing back. Navigating all 100000-ish references one by one seems a bit daunting. So I'm not sure where to go from here. Shane, you mentioned you had put together some useful functions for exploring this debug information - could you share them? Or were you just refering to the remote console you supplied earlier? Also, what kinds of Python code can cause memory leaks? I'm not really sure what I should be looking for. TAL, DTML & Folder question

Hello, I've the following line in a pagetemplate at the root of my site : <span tal:content="structure template/masters/nieuws/homenews"></span> homenews is a DTML Method with the following code : <div align="center" class="titel">Laatste Masters nieuws</div> <img src="gfx/tabel/lijn.gif" width="100%" height="2"><br> <dtml-in expr="objectValues('DTML Document')" reverse size=3 sort=id orphan=0> <dtml-if Publish> <dtml-var Date fmt="%d-%m-%Y">:  <a href="masters/nieuws/<dtml-var id>/newstemplate"><dtml-var title></a><br> </dtml-if> </dtml-in> This code has to show the last 3 news items (DTML Document's). Something is going wrong with a folder or somethin like that because the DTML Method show no news items. Mayby because there are no DTML Document with the right properties in the root. How can I tel Tal or the DTML Method to look for the news items in the following folder: /masters/nieuws Who can help me ?
