Product refresh causes database connections leaking

I'm developing a product (based on SimpleUserFolder), which adds a folder with some ZSQL methods to itself on instanciation. The ZSQL methods use a database adapter (Z Psyco DA 1.1.3, symptoms occur also with older versions). After some time things went awry, because the DA had lost its connection to the database and couldn't reconnect, because the max connections postgres would allow were used. Now I think I found the cause, because everytime I refresh my product, and the ZSQL Methods are used, the number of connections to postgres grows by 4. Anybody knows what exactly is to blame, zope's refresh procedure or the database adapter? cheers, oliver

Ftp with property?

Hi! I had read article descripting next step of ftp in zope will take a xml to package the property of file. When we upload the file and this xml, property will add to the uploaded file in ZMI. Is it true? Is this feature already usable now? My project in my institute involving upload former office files(mostly doc pdf excel) to zope/plone in batch. Most important, keywords must be added to use the Topic Catalog feature in plone. So i could not use the ZMI or plone interface to add properties one by one. I must have such ftp feature as soon as possible. If can't get the feature in this version's zope, hope somebody show me how to edit the ftp server's source code to add it. I am not a skilled python programmer, but I will take a try. I've already set my default policy in "Home" to "allow" -- what's missing? Do I have to explicitly call a security method to do that, or is there an attribute or something needed? Also, is it really the Home or the UserPB object whose security is not right? I have not yet been able to figure out where "validate()" is actually defined -- it seems the securityManager object expects to inherit or acquire it from somewhere. I realize there's probably another way to do the large task here, but there are a number of reasons why it's more convenient to do this mimicry trick to make a database record look like a simple child object of Home -- not least of which is that I want to handle them in parallel with persistent Zope objects ("UserFolder") which implement an identical "UserPBI" interface. Create top-level folder

Part of my product's job is to create a top-level folder. I can have it do that only when, from the management interface's "add function", I add it to the root directory. I would like it to always be able to go to the root directory, regardless of where its added. In order to do this, I need to access the root directory object, but I don't know how. What function can I call to return the root directory object? Weird acquisition behavior of Page Templates

Here's a puzzler... So we all know how you can use context acquisition by visiting various URLs in the browser, right? E.g. if let's say we have a folder in the zope root, called my_folder. Let's say it contains an image, a dtml method, and a page template called respectively my_image, my_dtml, and my_pt. Now we all know that if you browse to /my_folder/my_image/my_dtml, you'll see my_dtml rendered. my_image just gets added to its acquisition path. Likewise if you visit /my_folder/my_dtml/my_template, you'll see my_template rendered, with my_dtml at the end of the aq_chain. And if you visit /my_folder/my_template/my_dtml, you'll see my_dtml with my_template on the aq_chain. except the last one is not true. :-P As far as i can tell, if you put a page template anywhere in the URL, it gets rendered no matter what else comes after it in the URL. /my_folder/my_template/foo/bar/baz... no matter what, you get my_template rendered. what the hell is up with that? index_html not acquired with SkinnedFolder based product

Hi, I have a product based on SkinnedFolder, among other classes. I don't understand why index_html is not being acquired. Brian Lloyd wrote on 2003-01-02 in thread "Why is index_html() called instead of ..." : >ZPublisher looks first for index_html, and will only use __call__ >if it doesn't find an index_html on the published object. > I'm *not* setting index_html = None, or similar. What am I missing? I've written my own __call__ method, probably needlessly, to try to get around the problem. -dave

any way to get older style error_tb?

The object names and the filenames are left off of the newer error type and that makes it hard to figure out which of many objects which may be called together to publish a page was responsible for the error. The Filenames in this case aren't a big deal...but what happened to the Object names?
