I agree with Andre. The feature list is ambitious, but complete. That's pretty much what I was about to write myself, but he beat me to it :) More important is the second point: Having such a tool would bring a HUGE amount of value added to Zope. Mega, super huge. In fact I was once presented with an OO CMS much like Zope, but commercial, where the IDE/Management interface was much like this ... That alone was worh the 50K price tag ... Want to load a document ? Click -> Drag -> Done. That simple. My main concern would be it's adaptibility to custom content types. If I have my own Geospatial-ish content type, how would the IDE handle it ? How would I go about making it handle it ? etc ... In some respects I thnk such a project would be best "hosted" with Zope itself, since to make it work really well you may need to do work real close to the core of Zope. Also, as mentionned given the immense value added to the product, I'm thinking ZC would benefit greatly from it and should maybe be involved ? Basically, yo me this should be a core feature of Zope, not an add-on. RFC: Multi-Databases

I've written a proposal for adding a feature to ZODB to make it easier for applications to use multiple databases together: http://zope.org/Wikis/ZODB/MultiDatabases This is needed in the short term to fix the current breakage of Zope mounts in a sane way. getRoles()

I was fooling around in AccessControl\User.py, tying to add some user groups from an NT domain in the getRoles() method. Why does the getRoles() method get called so many times? Seems like once for each object on a page that needs authentication? Was making for a VERY slow page load while my NT Domain was across a slow WAN link. I would have thought it would have been called once and then cached, or...? thanks for any insight.

zLOG changes

Hi Fred, there are currently two things confusing me: - the entries in the event.log are currently written without the log level. Is this dedicated behaviour? I think the log level should be part of the event.log - when adding LOG = getLogger(...) LOG.info(...) to some modules then the output is only written to the event.log but no longer to stdout (if running in debug mode). Is this change intentional? Andreas

Zope 2.X Session problems

Per this thread that seems to have been dropped (MaxTransientObjectsExceeded Error); I have been having a similar situation--i'm wondering if it's a situation in which a for loop is getting passed null values to set into session? Example: form = {} for k,v in request.form.items(): form[k] = v session['form'] = form # Assuming that there *is* a form... and if not, is that the MaxTrans error? Anyone with any ideas on this? Ability to mount two or more databases, each of which is the same DB just at a different slice of time e.g. 1 week 2. Ability to slice a DB in half. The back half is essentially rolled back and the front half is compacted so when joined they have the complete history. This way if they wanted to view diffs of pages or the whole site at a particular date then they just have use some admin interface to mount the right time period from backup storage and then just use your tool above or normal zope diffing.
