This change breaks Gadfly which doesn't seem to like 'null' at all. I poked around in ZGadflyDA/gadfly a bit, but it's not obvious to me how to fix the parser (*.mar files anyone?). I would like to fix this pearl of memory-comsumption in OFS.Image manage_FTPget: def manage_FTPget(self): """Return body for ftp.""" <snip> return str(self.data) That and port a fix from webdav.NullResource.PUT to webdav.LockNullResource.PUT. We are currently finishing up a "debug_log" much like the error log that Python scripts can write too. We would happily make that source available if you think it will fit the bill. fresh install zope3.1.0 (binary installer) on windows

Could we create some docs on 'Newbie: How-to install the recent Zope3.1.0 on windows using the binary installer' provided at zope.org ? At the moment http://dev.zope.org/Zope3/Zope310 is the only available doc. It says 'Installation instructions for both Windows and Un*x/Linux are now available in the top level README.txt file of the distribution. The binary installer is recommended for Windows.' Which means, you need to download the tarball to get to install instructions. Would you like to comment on the questions below ? Questions when using the binary installer on windows: * already installed zope3 versions are recognized by the installer * the user is prompted to uninstall first * user knows where to uninstall * user knows the name of the program to uninstall * installer uninstalls on demand * installer installs and exits * user knows the place of the installation * zope program group is created with contents of the program group * start.bat - startup zope * nt-service - install as a windows service * uninstall * documentation * zope docs * online docs * create a new zope instance * install and start zeo * ...and your questions here I will add your comments to http://zopewiki.org/ZopeOnWindowsInstaller for a quick start. Allowing python logging from restricted code

Hi All, Would anyone have a problem if I added the necessary security declarations to allow the python logging module to be used from restricted code? I'd like do this both for the trunk and the 2.8 branch, unless anyone has huge objections... Furthermore, I'd like to change zope.conf to allow the flexibility of defining loggers that ZConfig normally provides out of the box, rather than being limited to just the event log and the access log. Decoding of source for text/xml ZPTs

Hi All, During complication, the XML parser that processes non-HTML mode ZPT's decodes the string of the source into unicode instructions. In HTML mode, the parse does no decoding and so we get string instructions. New mailinglist for Zope 3 translators

Hello all, [Sorry for the cross-post, please CC replies to zope3-i18n(a)zope.org only.] two months ago, I started an initiative [1] to translate Zope 3.1 using Ubuntu's Launchpad system [2]. Since then, I've received a lot of emails from numerous volunteers around the world and many of them made some excellent progress [3]. Thanks to everyone who contributed so far. A new mailinglist at zope3-i18n(a)zope.org will now help translators and developers like me to coordinate their work. For example, all those translations will have to be integrated back into the Zope 3.1 repository at some point which has to be coordinated somehow. Also, translators themselves will want to coordinate the work among them. The mailinglist will serve as a forum for discussing and coordinating things like that. So, if you're involved into Zope 3 translations OR if you would like to contribute something to Zope 3 by helping to translate it into your language, please subscribe to the new list [4]. log levels

Now in Zope 2 trunk, more and more components use the standard python logging framework. For instance the transaction code logs at DEBUG level every transaction start and end (self.log.debug(...)). This makes the logs very verbose, and any other code I write that logs at DEBUG level gets drowned in it. Previously transaction logs were at TRACE level but this doesn't exist anymore, and the python logging framework doesn't have anything between INFO and DEBUG or below DEBUG. I don't have a solution really, I can log at level BLATHER and limit my logs at that, but that's not very satisfying. And if zLOG is deprecated I'd rather avoid it. Any idea?
