Hi Suresh, I've actually tried that. The problem I run into is that the folder in my path contains a dash. When I call manage_delObjects on the following: obj = context.restrictedTraverse('webcasts/courses/2005-2006/temp') id = obj.getId() context.webcasts.courses.2005-2006.manage_delObjects(id) Python complains about the '-' in 2005-2006 on the third line. So my thought was that if you had the object reference you could somehow delete that reference like so: obj = context.restrictedTraverse('webcasts/courses/2005-2006/temp') id = obj.getId() obj.manage_delObjects(id) This however does not work. App.Product - distribution related code?

lib/python/App/Product.py contains code that deals *somehow* with "distributions" (whatever this means). Does any one know what this code is doing?...anyway this code uses the Python rotor module which was removed in Python 2.4. This code is a clear candidate to be kicked... objections? -aj

How to delete an object given a path in Zope

Hi guys, I am trying to figure out how to delete an object in Zope given a path. Using restrictedTraverse I'm able to get the object by its path. I then want to delete this object. I'm assigning the result to 'obj' as shown here: obj = context.restrictedTraverse('webcasts/courses/temp') The goal here is to be able to delete 'temp' by giving it a path. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks, Mike

running unit tests for Zope 2.8

Hi -- I have a fix for http://www.zope.org/Collectors/Zope/2037 and would like to write a unit test for it. However, I don't seem to be able to run the existing unit tests for SiteAccess with zopectl test. I created a new instance, then in my instance run bin/zopectl test --dir=/opt/Zope-2.8/lib/python/Products/SiteAccess/tests/ which yields the following: Running tests via: /usr/local/bin/python /opt/Zope-2.8/bin/test.py -v --config-file /home/zope/zopefix/etc/zope.conf --libdir Products --dir=/opt/Zope-2.8/lib/python/Products/SiteAccess/tests/ Running unit tests at level 1 Running unit tests from /opt/Zope-2.8/lib/python/Products/SiteAccess/tests Parsing /home/zope/zopefix/etc/zope.conf ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Ran 0 tests in 0.000s Any idea as to why no tests run? Am I missing some special incantation to get zopectl test to run? Or should I be running the Zope tests some other way? Thanks Geoff

characters allowed in object IDs

Hi! As of Zope 2.8.2 (http://svn.zope.org/?rev=38738&view=rev) the '@' character is allowed in object IDs. Zope 3 does not allow object IDs starting with '@' because those names are reserved for views. Five makes Zope 3 style views available in Zope 2, so IDs starting with '@' should be disallowed in Zope 2 as well. If there are no objections I'll fix that in Zope 2.8, 2.9 and trunk.
