Hello Zope Contributors, I invite you to join us during the OSOE Summer Camp 2010. It is a good opportunity for you to learn how to work on the Zope based open source software "ERP5" and to become to provide ERP/CRM/DMS to companies. We will give free lessons about how to make ERP/CRM/DMS based on the Zope framework and TioLive platform. The events takes place in Natal, state of Rio Grande do Norte, Brazil. Those lessons will take place during the OSOE Summer Camp. The event will take place between the 23th and the 27th of August. Detailed planning, accommodation information and registration form are available on http://www.osoe-project.org/summercamp The One Student One ERP program has been launched few months ago by TioLive in association with Professors and Universities to bring closer Students, Universities and Professionals. Python 2.7 disables deprecation warnings by default

I'm guessing that this has already been noticed and discussed, but Python 2.7 disables deprecation warnings by default. This will cause many tests to fail that checked that deprecation were issued. This change seems likely to make Python's deprecation system useless and thus unused. I noticed this yesterday when testing a project with Python 2.7 that had some deprecation tests. I modified the test runner script to call: warnings.simplefilter('default') to renable deprecation warnings. This allowed my tests to pass and also, ironically, showed new useful deprecation warnings in asyncore. I'm not sure what the best way to handle this is. My initial thought is that all test runners should enable deprecations by default. This seems hard to enforce. Individual test modules can do this, but I'm uncomfortable having a test script make a global setting like this and the warning module doesn't seem to provide a way to capture the current state so it can be reset after running tests. Python 2.7 and the ZTK - three test failures

Hi there, with Python 2.7 final being released, I ran the ZTK tests against it. zope.exceptions, zope.formlib and zope.proxy all have one test output related failure. RestrictedPython will need a security review. Following the developer mailing lists of each project costs too much time, so it's currently extremely hard to know what others are working on inside the Zope community. I think we share too little knowledge and experience with each other. This could lead to ideas for further improvements and changes to Zope. What lessons have people learned in building RESTful interfaces, Web 2.0 UI's, what strategies on "decomposable UI" like zope.contentprovided / zope.viewlet have actually worked or whatever. The Zope packages have little to offer when it comes to "new" Web technologies but arguably that's one of the main things they are used for. I cannot think of anything else right now. There's always bikeshed topics like Python 3, Subversion vs. DVCS but I don't think talking about those at the current stage has much point. Hanno

Fabio, Within the last few months you committed the following change to zope.i18nmessageid: http://svn.zope.org/zope.i18nmessageid/trunk/setup.py?rev=102497&r1=101297&… The commit message is "Fixed the compilation of the C extension with python 2.6: refactored it as a setuptools Feature." Can I ask what problem was being fixed with this commit? It undid work I did in this revision: http://svn.zope.org/zope.i18nmessageid/trunk/setup.py?rev=99669&r1=97948&r2… I should have left a comment in there: the work was effectively there to support building zope.i18nmessageid on Jython and other platforms like GAE that do not support C extensions at all, even optionally. The package no longer builds on Jython ("error: Setup script exited with error: Compiling extensions is not supported on Jython"), although to be honest I don't really understand why not. I'm hoping we can find a way to retain whatever fix you were trying to make but still allow the package to build on Jython, but I think I need to understand what problem you were fixing first. - C

If you have anything you'd like to talk about, please feel free too send a topic suggestion in response to this post: it's really intended to be a platform for anyone of us to get itches scratched, so I want *you* to speak up. :) If nothing else comes up, we'll talk about: - The use of CVS keywords ($Id$) and whether to keep them, ignore them, remove them. - Revisit the Zope summit topic planning (I'll be around this time...) Also, it's been another 4 weeks down the road and we agreed last time to spend some time in meta mode every now and then. So, independent of what we talk about in the 30 minutes of the meeting, please bring an additional 15 minutes for talking about the meeting itself.
