Zope 2.12.9 broke ZMySQLDA in the middle of a stable release series

Hi, The latest Zope 2.12.9 release broke the last release of Products.ZMySQLDA. Internal buildbots that tracked the 2.12 branch notified me of this problem, but in between catching up with all the traffic for the mailing lists and the Zope commit, and a day job, I didn't have enough time to track down the issue before the 2.12.9 release was made: there was less than 4 days between spinning off Products.ZSQLMethods and the new 2.12 release. The most trivial fix seems fairly obvious: ZMySQLDA should carry its own icon, but in any case, Zope 2.12 should not break compatibility in the middle of a stable series. I strongly suspect other Zope2 DB adapters to suffer from the same problem. I'm not sure what the proper fix should be. App.ImageFile.ImageFile could grow support for icons outside of software_home, or perhaps the spinning-off of Shared.DC.ZRDB should be delayed to the 2.13 series only, but in any case the 2.12 branch should be a safe upgrade for third party code as much as reasonably possible. suggestions? zope.keyreference hashes vs. 32/64bit

Hi. I've recently stumbled on some at least to me unexpected behavior with zope.keyreference. For a persistent object it generates a unique key using: hash((database_name, oid)) where hash is Python's built-in hash function. Reading the documentation I assumed that a keyreference for the same object (as identified by database name and oid) should be stable and always produce the same result. This isn't always true, when you look up persisted keyreference data, upgrade your software versions and compare it to a new calculation. Python's hash function is only stable inside the same Python version and 32/64 bit combination. The same input in a 32bit Python 2.6 and 64bit Python 2.6 produces different results, as both try to use the maximum available integer space and thus a 64bit Python generates keys above the 32int range. As a simple example "hash(('main', 1)) > 2**32" is True in a 64bit Python and False in a 32bit Python. The internal hash implementation seems to have been pretty stable in all the latest Python versions up to 3.1. So the algorithm produces the same results for all 32bit version of Python 2.x to 3.1 and 64bit respectively. But as far as I understand this isn't guaranteed to be the case for future versions. Does anyone else see a problem with this? Should keyreference use a different hash algorithm? Hanno

testing problem with path expressions in page templates

Hi All, When trying to test a template in a unit test, I get the following exception: - Expression: <PathExpr standard:u'options/myobject/SomeProperty'> ... File "Zope2-2.12.7-py2.6-macosx-10.3-fat.egg/Products/PageTemplates/Expressions.py", line 79, in boboAwareZopeTraverse request=request) File "zope.traversing-3.7.1-py2.6.egg/zope/traversing/adapters.py", line 136, in traversePathElement raise LocationError('No traversable adapter found', obj) - __traceback_info__: ({'content': <MyObject>, 'args': ()}, 'content') LocationError: ('No traversable adapter found', {'content': <MyObject>, 'args': ()}) 'SomeProperty' is, well, a property ;-) Now, the same template works just fine when used "for real", so I figure some standard traversal adapter hasn't been registered when the test runs. Hello, Someone please take a look at z3c.testsetup trunk. There are 2 failures but only on *windows*, which I cannot solve now. http://paste.lisp.org/+2FWH Tests in ...\trunk\src\z3c\testsetup\tests\layered_cave\foo\ do not get picked up. Weird is that the same looking tests in ...\layered_cave\bar\ get picked up.
