Hi folks, We are new to Zope so bear with these simple questions. We have a site developed in ASP and we are exploring the possibility of using a Zope like environment for future enhancements. We have the following questions: - Is there a way to reliably import ASP or Java files into Zope environment as Zope objects? - Does Zope support editing and viewing of ASP files, especially when multilingual character sets are involved? - Can Zope support unit testing of ASP files? - Is it possible that we can generate static snapshot of the ASP site in Zope by using a tool like zMirror or wget. Will Zope or one of its product be able to execute ASP and get data from DB and generate static HTML files. We have a feeling that this kind of thinking is in contrast to the basic Zope paradigm but we thought of asking the gurus anyway. Any feedback will be highly appreciated. Thanks - Singhera

Problems with "skip_unauthorized" in Zope 2.4 b3

Hi! Before putting this into the bug tracker I'd like to ask you if anybody else has experienced problems with the "skip_unauthorized" option of the tree and in tags under 2.4? I did some preliminary tests and have the feeling that Zope 2.4 protects "tpValues" in a way that prevents the "skip_unauthorized" option from working. Instead of a tree that just doesn't show the protected branches I always get a login prompt ... Cheers Joachim

Property Storage Bloat Question

Hi, If I store a moderately frequently changed property on a Folder will only the folder object get tacked on the end of Data.fs when the folder changes or will it be the folder object plus all the objects in the folder? cheers, Chris

Perhaps I am not understanding correctly, but do you have this same problem with a field index for methods as well as properties? Have you tried this on values other than integers? I have, for example, an item that has a method called firstLetter() that obtains title[0:1] and returns it as a string; sort_on='firstLetter' seems to work just fine (2.3.2), even though the return value has many duplicates among the thousands of objects I am sorting; I have not tried sorting on a property for a field index in this manner, though... On an unrelated note (I figured I might as well ask while I'm at it), does anyone know if there is a way to get sort_on to work for field indexes that store dates? sort_on and sort_order seem to be meaningless when applied to indexes containing dates... I assume that a corrective behavior might be to turn the date into a string or an integer (UNIX time, for example) via an indexed method; I just wonder if there is something easier that anyone knows of? For example, if: x=SimpleItem() y=SimpleItem() z=Simpleitem() x.fred=1 y.fred=1 z.fred=2 ...now if you have a FieldIndex called 'fred' and catalog this lot, you'll get the error when you do a search along the lines of: r = Catalog(sort_on='fred') However, if you changed it so y.fred=2 and z.fred=3, you wouldn't get any unexpected behaviour :-S It appears that IITreeSet objects don't like being subscripted. ZCatalog sorting questions

Hi, Wow, ZCatalog is interesting :-S How does the sorting in line 674 and 684 of Catalog.py interact with the sorting in lines 566, 581-587, 598-616? To an amateur like me it looks like it re-sorts irrespective of the sorting already in the index (which I thought was done to make things fast) and nulifies any benefits of earlier attempts to lazify results sets. Particulary the r.reverse in line 684 if you choose to reverse your sort order... I'm hoping someone can explain this all to me, I really am starting to loose hair :-S cheers, Chris

Extra Bad CVS Checkotu Problem

It looks like a symlink to the DC folder has somehow ended up in the DC folder! This DC folder contains all the products and the symlink again, meaning you get a recursive CVS checkout that never ends. A bit like having a relative link without a BASE ref in a DTML method, 'cept much much slower :-( Is anyone else seeing this? cheers, Chris
