ZCatalog phrase indexing revisited

Hi all, I'm asking this again ,in case anything has changed since the last time. I'm trying to search for a phrase in ZCatalog, but, it doesn't seem to work. Let's say I want to search for "foo bar", if i ask ZCatalog to find it, it treats it as if I wrote "foo OR bar" . Last time I asked this, SteveA kindly replied: You should use quotes to group the phrase. ['"foo bar"'] Take a look in the source code: lib/python/SearchIndex/UnTextIndex.py Follow the flow of code through from line 550: def query( ... however, this doesn't seem to work. You can try it even on the zope.org website using their search interface. Using the above suggested syntax (incl. the brackets) returns an error message. Can anyone help me ? Thx. oren.

If you have a recipe or script or ideas for this, I'd appreciate it. Proposed proposals: password encryption, ZODB RAM

Here are a couple of ideas I'd like to toss out. Proposals can take a lot of time to write and it might be easier this way to flesh out the details. 1) Optional password encryption. Right now passwords are stored as clear text. What's interesting is that Zope can already authenticate against SHA encrypted passwords, it just won't encrypt user passwords unless you force it to. As a test of Zope's ability to authenticate against encrypted passwords, I sneakily implemented the "inituser" changes with SHA encryption by default. That means that the password for the initial user stored in the database is not possible to decrypt and yet nobody has had any problems with it AFAIK. Since it has been successful, I'd like to suggest we add a checkbox to basic user folders that enables encryption for new passwords, and have it turned on by default. The risk is incompatibility with HTTP digest auth, which I imagine nobody is using right now. 2) If cPickle were to do something similar to "intern"-ing strings when loading objects from the ZODB, Zope might consume significantly less RAM on busy servers. ZODB uses lots of strings. ZODB caches cannot be shared among threads. But strings, being immutable, can be safely shared. We couldn't just intern the strings since that would make them immortal, but if we used weak references it could work. The only risk is the speed impact during loading of objects. Shane

Good day all, I wouldn't consider myself as a Zope developper, but since that's where the thread was... I've read the thread with interest but so far all I've read in it are workarounds that I do not find particularly nice. I did find a bug w/patch in the collector (#1317), which I thought was meant to correct the problem, but the patch has been applied to my version (2.3.2), and dtml-in evidently still did not behave as expected. So I've looked at it more closely and found what I think is a fix, but given my inexperience, I would like to know if others think that I'm doing something wrong. I've tested the change for a while on my application, and everything seems to work so far. define restricted list of meta types for subobjects

hi i made a folderish product which inherits from objectmanager to define which meta_types the user should be able to put into it i have overriden "all_meta_types" from objectmanager now only those returned from this function are displayed in the product add list in the ZMI but i can still add other subobjects when i play with the url and call the addform directly. my q: is there a method to define this subobjects via permissions without setting permissions each time a product class is instanciated i read about some "permission key" for a specific meta type. but i want to set the permissions only for a specific product, independend of the instances location thx in advance, bernd

Hia guys, one of my products landed flat on its face when an ImportError was raised trying to import VSEval from DocumentTemplate; is there a new class / function of some sort or simply another name for the class? Cheers, Morten

Hi, Someone once posted info about a 500MB Data.fs running over FiberOptic NT NTFS Cluster Network Name,and another Data.fs of 500MB running over a scsi Linux NFS mount with no major problems for about 2 years. You can also Pack your Data.fs on a daily basis and backup the Data.fs.old to another storage device. http://www.it.uc3m.es/~ptb/nbd/ this his in fact very promising. But the best of the world would be to have Zope Storage Server Replication, which what I know is in the forge.
