No profiling file written!

Hi!, I need to do some profiling with Zope, and the tool in the management console works fine, but I can't find the file where the profiling info is supposed to be written. This is what my start script says about profiling: PROFILE_PUBLISHER="/usr/local/Zope-2.6.2-linux2-x86/var/profile.log" export PROFILE_PUBLISHER But the file doesn't seem to ever come to exist! Could anybody tell me what am I missing? Thanks a lot, Toni.

config file changes made to 2.7 branch and head

The 2.7 branch and HEAD have been changed so that they require databases to be present in the config file to start properly. Previous 2.7 betas did not require this; in fact, there were no databases specified in the default zope.conf file, and Zope guessed at what the defaults were. Since guessing this way is bad, I've changed it to require explicit database statements in the config. To ensure that your 2.7 or HEAD checkouts start properly, place the following in your config file (or just uncomment it from the default config file): <zodb_db main> # Main FileStorage database <filestorage> path $INSTANCE/var/Data.fs </filestorage> mount-point / </zodb_db> <zodb_db temporary> # Temporary storage database (for sessions) <temporarystorage> name temporary storage for sessioning </temporarystorage> mount-point /temp_folder container-class Products.TemporaryFolder.TemporaryContainer </zodb_db>

Localizer and UnicodeError

I want to move my Localizer "LocalContent" instances from Localizer 0.8.1 to Localizer 1.0.1 My Zope 2.5.1 was updated with all necessary unicode patches. The problem: After converting LocalContent instances in one folder to Unicode, I cannot access the management screen. The error message is: Error Type: UnicodeError Error Value: ASCII encoding error: ordinal not in range(128) The same error is triggered when displaying the titles in that folder: script_1: for x in context.objectValues('LocalContent'): print x.id, ":" x.title return printed ... and is not trigered if I only list the ids. I believe that this kind of error appears when Zope is trying to display Unicode characters and legacy-encoded characters (such as ISO-8859-2 or Win1250) at the same time. The title attribute of LocalContent objects is displayed in the ZMI. Of course, the title attribute of LocalContent objects has many language versions, and Zope (I presume) displays in the ZMI the language version according to my browser's language setting. I do not understand why script_1 triggers it. But most importantly I do not know how to get out of this mess. Zope and streaming

Hi all, i have a little problem. I cant find a way howto stream data from a Zope behind Apache. My coworker was playing a little bit with mod_fastcgi, and found a way to stream data via the mod_fastcgi module in Apache. But if we tested this with a fast-cgi enabled Zope it does not work. It seems that the fast-cgi-server inside Zope sends the data in 8kByte chunks ?! Could somebody shed some light on this problem or point me to some documentation where i can read about it. SMPT Authorization support

I just checked in (on regebro-esmpt_support-branch) support for setting a username and password on the mailhost. Very nice and easy fix, and lot's of people want it. But I realized that what you actually might want is to have different login and password for each user, that is a possibility to pass username + password to send(). And maybe you want a setting to allow this or not. Or is this overkill? What do you think? (This is for all for 2.8, obviously). //Lennart

bizarre slicing behaviour in Zope

try this in a script in zope 2.7b3 (maybe others, too) if you want to go crazy: dd = ('dd', 'diocese', 'Parish.2003-12-16.8636751973', 'bob', 'Workspace.2003-12-17.8140751750','gerry.2003-12-17.8140751750') return dd[4:] you should get the last two items from the tuple, but I get the last item returned as a string if i loop through the slice, it's ok. it seems to be a publishing problem. It's me again :(

So... this time I got a really weird one. I'm storing a subclass of File (Archetypes newBaseUnit, File is the only base class) into a PersistentMapping, and I'm getting: 'Can't pickle objects in acquisition wrappers' However, as far as I can see, the object is *not* acquisition wrapper. If I put a try: except in ZODB.serialize and try obj.aq_base, I get an attribute error, and aq_base(obj) is obj returns True.
