DA for DB2 ?

I have looked around for a DB2 database adapter for Zope and did not find any. But I have found that there exists a DB2 driver for Python under: ftp://people.linuxkorea.co.kr/pub/DB2 This driver claims to be Python DB API compliant, so it should be possible to port for example the ZOracleDA. But before I invent the wheel for a second time I ask you: 0. Has anybody written or started to write a DB2 adapter for Zope? 1. Has anybody experiences with this python driver for DB2? 2. Or am I wrong with my assumption and it is early impossible to write a DB2 adapter. 3. Is anybody else interested in DB2 support for Zope? thanks in advance Philipp Auersperg

Getting the parent of a container in a Python Script

Hi all, My question is in the title. I think I'm stupid because I have really searched anywhere, and found nothing. The answer is certainly trivial but too many hours you know... :-) I'm able to get all the children of the current container or context but unable to get its parent. Maybe it's silly but a 'parent' property for all the objects seems to me a good idea. Of such a property may already exist but what is its name ? Of course I have tried REQUEST.PARENTS[0] but this is the parent inside the URL, I'm searching the PARENT inside the object system. Another question how can I get a reference of any object in OBJECT system, I've tried unrestrictedTraverse but it seems very 'restrictive' :-) Aside from my problems Zope rocks really. Updates! Refresh, BTreeFolder, and ZDebug products

Gang, BTreeFolder, now at version 0.2, has been updated for Zope 2.3.0, including the managment interface and the fix for a clipboard bug. Come'n get it! http://www.zope.org/Members/hathawsh/BTreeFolder If no one reports any problems, I think we can consider this version "stable" and re-label it version 1.0. ZDebug, now at version 0.2, has also been updated for Zope 2.3.0. It now displays the REQUEST when available. It includes a tweak for LoginManager. Please note that, for security reasons, you *must not* use older versions of ZDebug with Zope 2.3.0 and above. http://www.zope.org/Members/hathawsh/ZDebug But here's the biggest news: the Refresh product, which makes life just a little bit easier for filesystem product developers, now has an auto-refresh feature and the ability to set up dependent products. This means changes to your Python modules are instantly recognized by Zope and development is almost as nice as working with ZClasses. http://www.zope.org/Members/hathawsh/Refresh Note that all of these products now use a slightly different packaging convention. [Newbie Alert] How to make an existing class catalog-aware

Hi everybody I am using managed meeting to set up a course management site. I would like to make its classes catalog aware, so I can make canned searches and display different kind of courses, depending on the user interest. Is there any way to make an existing class catalog aware? Thanks, Stefano

freebsd file: table is full when starting zope2

zope script execution timeout

Hi, first a more python/httplib.py specific question: I know there has been a patch for this module to support socket timeout exception but I cant find the bastard. Anyone? I can see that in Python2.0 the urllib module now has a timeout implementation but is it safe to replace urllib.py from 2.0 in zope's python modules? I know... I will try it... but if someone has any experience in this would help. Now more zope/Zserver specific: ZServer/medusa has a timeout option, I reduced this value but that just doesnt seems to work, I still have zombie channels running for days. Meanwhile I'm working on a External Method that imports Zhttpserver stuff where I can enter in the zope's channels poll and find the zombie ones and hopefully killing/closing the bastards, thats just what Zserver.maintenance() should do but doesnt. A final point is I know in unix I could use the signal module but I'm working on NT (dont laugh like a drain please :-), which doesnt support signals but supports a "structured exception handling" (whatever this means...), bottom line, is there a signal like module in python working on NT that I could use to for instance wrap httplib and urllib calls? Introducing ZopePrints.

¡Hola! Some of us over at ZopeZen.org (<URL:http://www.zopezen.org>) have been discussing the fenomena that is called ZopePrints. I'll give a brief explanation, and would appretiate feedback as to whether this a good idea or not. A ZopePrint is a document, or maybe a set of documents, which describes a part of, or the complete development process for a Zope application. This could include the whole process from when the customers tell you they want to do project X with you, till you actually finish it and it's up and running in the customers offices. Some points may be: * Problem definition * Problem analysis * Project management (Resource allocation) * Design phase * Zope design * Test phase (Have a looksy at <URL:http://www.zopezen.org/SDot/981475769/index_html> to check out all the suggestions, and my initial post.) The rationale behind this is that the community at large would benefit from this by having _real_life_ case studies so when their time has come to implement an application in Zope, they don't fall into the same traps and pitfalls we did. Instead of benchmarks, the Zope community would use implementation documents to decide whether Zope is up for the job or not, that's what really helps. I'm quite sure that it will also work as a tool for finding gaps and holes in either Zope or its tools and Products. We would like to start a project going in the Fishbowl which aims at creating the right tools to document a project as described above. Feel free to make suggestions!
