how to create third party Product?

It would be great if someone can tell me how to create a third party product in 1) dtml, 2) python method. Does it depend on whether the product is a ZClass product? ConflictErrors and how to handle them

Hi guys, I've been struggling with a problem, namely ConflictErrors. At times, a long-running process may add 100, 1000, 10000 objects to a single folder. Under this process, several ConflictErrors may be raised, but they are captured, and the transaction committed again. Problem solved. However, the other side of the problem is that regular requests, from other users, may be be aborted, and as a result the user is presented with a Zope Error screen, which says ConflictError. If I've understood this correctly, it is because the ZODB connection is hosed, and innocent reads trigger ConflictErrors. So, I'm wondering about turning up the number of Exceptions each request may handle (it's 3 now, right?) and just hope that the exception isn't raised more than 10-20 times. Where can I increase the number of accepted exceptions per request? Any thoughts on the solution itself? Cheers, Morten

ZDatabaseTool source code released

This is the first ZDatabaseTool source code release . Two new Zope objects are provided. ZDatabaseDiagram shows the structure and relations between tables of your database based on referential integrity definitions. So you get a quick view over tables views and column definitions. A ZDatabaseExplore shows all entities of your database. ZCatalog scalability

After comsidering the feedback I got from the previous 'Massive scalability' thread, I decided to split my queries into two areas: Rack scalability and ZCatalog scalability. This email deals with the latter. Partial match (wildcard) searches have already been identified as a resource hog, depending on the size of the result list. I am more than willing to give up wildcards in my application for performance. What I am interested in for my application are two things: - ZTopics populated using one or more keyword indexes - Full text search on a single computed attribute that concatenates several fields including the aforementioned keyword index fields and a few simple string attributes (title, caption, description, etc.) I need to know how far the ZCatalog will scale using this indexing and search strategy. Does anyone have anectodal or benchmark data to suggest if (and when) I will hit a 'wall' regarding the number of objects being indexed and searched? Some anectodal data suggests that single field indexing will scale easily to 60,000 objects, what about hundreds of thousands or even millions of objects? Also, is there a way to disable wildcards in full text searches? Thanks, Michael Bernstein.

ZClass object on Rack retains old permission settings after being changed

Hi, I have an instance of a ZClass stored on a Rack.the ZClass contains a Folder named displayItemsVisitor. I changed the Folder's View permission to from 'View' to 'Manage Application Objects' which is a permission defined in my Product. I then gave viewOrder_html, which is a DTML Method that calls a method inside this Folder a proxy role which has the Manage Application Objects permission. Then I tried to view viewOrder_html. I got Unauthorized on access to displayItemsVisitor. Fine. I already know that ZClass permissions are a mine field, so I decided to give it up for now. So I returned everything to normal - set the View permission of displayItemsVisitor back to 'View' and removed the proxy role from viewOrder_html. When I tried to view viewOrder_html, I got the same Unauthorized error. So, I deleted displayItemsVisitor. Then I created a new one. Still Unauthorized. Cache problem? I set the Cache Target Size and Target max time to 0 and flushed the cache. Still Unauthorized. Interestingly, the cache page shows 1281 objects in the cache even after flushing. My best guess is that there is some cache problem with ZPatterns, where it continues to serve cached items and ignores object changes and cache flushing. In fact, I'm pretty sure there is a cache problem is ZPatterns, because on several occasions in the past ZPatterns continued to serve items after I deleted them from the database. So the question is, what do I do now?
