manage_delObjects : problem DTML & Python

Hello, this is my code where I have problem : <dtml-in "REQUEST.form[('idChk')]"> <dtml-call "manage_delObjects(REQUEST.idChk[<dtml-var sequence-number>])"> </dtml-in> REQUEST.form[('idChk')] return a list wich I receive from a "form". But this code is wrong because Zope don't accept a <dtml-var> in a <dtml call>. How can I insert an index for delete all objects that return my list idChk ? Do I have to use Python script for solve this problem. Thanks a lot, Johan Beaucé.

ZSQL problem when upgrading from Zope 2.3.0 to 2.3.3 (ZMySQL

2.0.x to 2.0.6) Reply-To: I have searched the archives from March 2001 thru current, and could not find any information on the following problem that I am experiencing. I have actually discovered a work-a-round, but thought that I would post this message in the event others out there have experienced or are experiencing this problem. Previously when running Zope 2.3.0, and consequently a version of ZMySQLDA prior to 2.0.4, I was able to display the values of int(11) fields from MySQL without any problem. However, upon upgrading to Zope 2.3.3 and ZMySQLDA 2.0.6, this broke. All of my DTML-Methods and Documents were now displaying the long integer indicator "1L", "2L", etc. Additionally, other ZSQL methods that I had created which took integer arguments were now breaking as they were trying to query the database with values of "1L", "2L", etc. rather than 1, 2, etc. The solution: According to the CHANGES document for ZMYSQLDA: As of ZMYSQLDA 2.0.4, all integers are returned as long integers in Python. Unfortunately, Python 1.5.2 appends an "L" to these values when rendering them. To resolve the formatting/printing/display issue, either: a.) Upgrade to Python 2.0 or greater b.) Use a format string on the integer columns <dtml-var varname fmt="%d"> To resolve the ZSQL methods from blowing up either: a.) Upgrade to Python 2.0 or greater b.) Use <dtml-sqlvar varname type=int> instead of <dtml-var varname> in your ZSQL methods Hope this helps someone else. -Brian

I'll have to have a look at it - I've built my own tool to manage multiple ZEO instances across multiple hosts, as well as allowing upgrades from development -> internal test -> external test -> production along with starting up temporary servers and frobbing loadbalancers to make sure upgrades are transparent to the end users. Status of ZopeStartupProvisions?

We're currently trying to neaten up Zope startup (zope startup for dummies is currently a real pain). I ran across the ZopeStartupProvisions wiki, and it's pretty close to what we're aiming for - having a much nicer startup/control script and a configuration file. It's been dormant since April, though, and I'm wondering if there's still anyone backing it? Richard

I'm unable to reproduce the CVS problems you both report! Specifically, i tried a checkout and build this morning: cvs -d :pserver:anonymous@cvs.zope.org:/cvs-repository co Zope and was able to build and run without any failures. Further, 'grep' for regex in lib/python/DateTime: grep regex * */* turned up no results. Just to eliminate possible missteps, could you check some things? - Check that the contents of CVS/Repository in the homedir of the checkout contains:: Zope It would be worth confirming that the CVS/Root file contains:: :pserver:anonymous@cvs.zope.org:/cvs-repository and that there is no file named 'Tag' in that directory. - If any of those don't match what they should be, redo the checkout, and check whether you're still getting the bogus stuff. - Confirm that cvs.zope.org resolves to 63.102.49.30. ComponentArchitecture thoughts

I listened in on the chat regarding this and although I think the idea has merit, I'm not sure that it is vitally important right now. It could too quickly turn into a lot of burned time with nothing to show for it. Right now, I think that 2 things could flatten the curve for new developers that are more accessible: 1. Rewrite ZClasses. This is currently an ominous threat that could break much backwards compatibility. Many ZCers want this to happen too. So let's make it happen now, and break less rather than more. 2. Simplify the security model more, if possible :) I know, it's been done, but it's still not easy. This leads to two problems: o Duplicate copies of each email will be sent if a request has to be retried due to a conflict error. o Emails can be sent even if a request never completes, due to an error rendering the tail of the page, or a problem detected at transaction commit. The way you frame it makes a lot of sense; if one was to name this sort of beast it might be called 'worm-hole folders' or something - that is, there is a globally available namespace that can be obtained and pushed onto the stack below the containerment stack... I'm definitely tempted to try creating something like this as an interim solution; it would be much more graceful than using Transparent Folders, since re-use of code would be more encouraged; I suppose that one would just hardcode the path (somehow) to the namespace you want to use for the code into a 'worm-hole folder' property. I'm still thinking that in the longer-term future there are cases where full-fledged lookups using something like Catalog should be used (and, of course, cached) from a more full-featured directory. I guess the use-case I am thinking of is partially similar to: http://dev.zope.org/Wikis/DevSite/Projects/ComponentArchitecture/FindOutIfAF eatureIsAvailableAtRuntime More specifically, I wouldn't mind being able to use a code folder that kept resource metadata about methods and a method directory service catalog that was able to extract that for publishing in web-services discovery (via WSDL) processes, as well as to internal content objects that asserted a particular interface, which is a bit more demanding that simply shifting a namespace onto the stack... I'm sure that if I can get something like the 'worm-hole folders' solution put together, that later deciding which namespace gets pushed onto the stack based-upon a (potentially cached) lookup through a method catalog should be possible. In that case, only the namespace containing the method that best-serves the use-case (as queried) or content object interface is going to be shifted onto the stack... versions don't honor portnumbers

Hi, I just encountered a very irritating behaviour of versions resp. the cookies which carry them. We have a development server which servers something like 3-5 zopes on different ports. Today it occured that one folder on one zope (port 20080) got locked in a version which isn't existant on this zope. After some thinking I found that version on another zope and, well, from then on everything worked as expected. Is this a mistake by my browser (IE) for not seperating cookies by differnent port numbers for the same ip? cheers, oliver
