XML Document cloneNode patch

Hi there, Just in case someone else is looking at implementing the DOM cloneNode() for XML Document, I've been working on that yesterday. If you want a patch just mail me and I can send it to you (that is, today, I won't be around friday or the weekend). Note that I'm not very familiar with the process of dealing with patches, so bear with me. :) My patch *seem* to work, but not perfectly yet. I also sent it to Amos yesterday, so I hope he or someone else can solve the problems that my changes still have. Or perhaps there's a better implementation -- I'd be happy to cooperate on that as well, knowing my way around the XML Document sources a bit now. Regards, Martijn

OpenBSD 2.5+ Python 1.52 and Zope-2.0.0b1-src Missing thread.py(Can anyone Help

Hi All, I have OpenBSD 2.5+ , I have replaced the version of python that comes in the /usr/src/ports/lang/python with python 1.5.2 and I have just attempting to install Zope 2.00b1 from source and I keep getting the following error when attempting to run the start script File "/export3/zope/Zope-2.0.0b1-src/ZServer/HTTPServer.py", line 111, in ? import thread ImportError: No module named thread I used the quick start instructions... but this thread module seems to be missing... what gives... is this a bug or a misconfigure on my part clueless ps I rmed the previous installation of python from the ports lib

Now, after exporting and importing my data into the new version of Zope, if I do the same thing, I get the html page, but with the "entryURL" value for Folder_B--the highest (in the hierarchy) folder that has the property. It seems that the search mechanism is finding the first instance of the property it can find in the URL versus starting at the lowest folder and searching upward. What am I doing wrong? DA Status

Gang, I've started to put up a list of status for all the DA's on the web site: http://www.zope.org/Download/DAStatus Please look over this and let me know if you have anything to change. I will be adding information about contributed DAs as it is collected/contributed. One thing I would like to make clear about all DC-supported DAs... they will all be at least Level 2 by the official release of Zope 2.0. In addition, if you wish to beat a DA into L2 immediately, all you need to do is: * Mix in the Shared.DC.ZRDB.THUNK.THUNKED_TM instead of normal one * Call self._register before you do a query * And implement self._begin, self._finish, self._abort This gets you L2 + integration with transaction support. This list will expand and grow over the next couple of days. Chris

XML-RPC "To Do" List

Since Zope is heading towards a 2.0 release, I want to clean up some of the niggling problems with Zope XML-RPC. Here are the problems I know about: 1) There are known bugs in xmlrpclib 0.9.5. This needs to be upgraded to version 0.9.8, or XML-RPC calls using the <struct> tag will fail in a variety of interesting ways. 2) Zope XML-RPC methods cannot return 0, '', or other values which Python considers to be false. These values get mangled somewhere between the External Method and ZPublisher/xmlrpc.py. 3) Either Digital Creations or UserLand needs to write up a page on Zope XML-RPC. We'll point to it from www.xmlrpc.com. 4) Logging and error reporting still leave a lot to be desired. I'm working on this. And one minor issue: 5) Zope XML-RPC does not use the Expat parser shipped with Zope 2.0b1. It uses the slower and less correct xmllib parser included with Python by default. It should be possible to hook xmlrpclib up to Expat, provided that all the various modules involved use the standard Python XML APIs. I can handle (4) myself, and I'll handle (5) when it becomes a critical issue for one of our projects. (1) is easy--I can mail somebody the correct file. I can handle (3), or somebody at DC can handle it if they prefer. But one of these problems is tricky: (2). Zope may have good reasons for throwing away false values, and I don't want to hack on this code until I know what the issues are. Cheers, Eric

Gadfly 1.0 is fully merged into the CVS repository, so it should show up in the public CVS RSN... (remember to check out Zope2). In addition, having talked with Jim, we don't seem to be able to reproduce the problems with transactions, so please make sure your DA is up to date with the CVS repository. How to use Zope 1.10.3 with ZServer?

According to the version history ZODB 2 is no longer supported by Zope 2. However, since I appreciate the intregration of ZServer as an NT Service very much, I would like to use it with my current 1.10.3 app. (I'm running ZopeHTTPServer now, but this is no satisfying solution). Is this possible and will it remain possible with future updates of ZServer? Stefan
