[just posted to Collector] ZClass-ZCatalog interaction bugs? (2.0 beta 1) 1) In the ZCatalog "Find Items to Catalog" tab, if you select the ZClass superclass from types, ZClass sub-classes are not found (if you don't choose their types or 'all types' specifically. If you select the sub-class specifically, they are found. Seems like one should be able to just select the superclass and have all the sub-class instances be found. 2) In the ZCatalog "Cataloged Objects" tab, the hotlinks are to manage_main, but for ZClasses, there is no manage_main by default, only a manage_access. real globals

What is the correct way for an ExtensionMethod to share data across all invocations. I have an extension method which does a mem/cpu intensive calculation. I have implemented a threaded queuing scheme using a global variable _Jobs; this variable is supposed to be unique. When I run the extension function twice simultaneously I get two copies of this 'global' instead of the expected 1; my function proceeds as expected, but the memory usage becomes extreme and thrashing starts. So my question is how to get the same environment for each invocation? -- Robin Becker

ANN: Zope for Windows (Zmake version) - new release

Hi, I've released a new version of Zope for Windows. This version now includes ALL the Win32 extensions neatly tucked into the Dlls directory. NO registry changes are made. You can now run Zope/Zserver as a Service, Pywin (in debugger if you wish) and console binary. All three versions support OLE, ActiveX and all the cool windows stuff. I haven't released my WordArt Zclass yet because it will require ghostscript (silly Word cannot save WordArt pics). To use this, you ONLY need Zope (python is included). Follow the instructions in PCBuild as usual. ZOPE hosting: Subsiting patch 0.5.

Hi! I've uploaded a patch at http://www.mtg.co.at/projects/subhosting/, that allows to host multiple websites in one ZOPE space. This is a pure ZPublisher patch, and as such supports only subsites that DO acquire from their mainsite. This is more or less the right thing for logically interconnected websites, and is probably acceptable for other uses too. The patch supports at ZPublisher level also nonacquiring subsites, but at the moment this is not functional, because there are no Application-alike objects yet (normal Folders don't work permissionwise, and creating an additional Application does neither :( ). I've included the README file for the patch here: ZOPE Subsite support patch. http://www.mtg.co.at/projects/subhosting/ This patch allows ZPublisher to support subsites, which are additional DNS names for some folder of an existing ZOPE site. For installation instructions, see the file INSTALL. As the CGI environment doesn't contain enough information for this to do reliably (without relying on heuristics), it extends the expected environment of ZPublisher by an new optional variable: ZOPE_DROP_FOLDER. This variable contains the number of Folder objects that are above the site start in the ZOPE database. The number can have a "c" appended, in which case ZPublisher cuts off the Folders above the site start Folder completely. This includes also acquisition. WARNING: Do not use the "c" option if you do not exactly know what you are doing. Standard ZOPE Folder objects are able to fulfill the role the Toplevel Application object. Example: http://www.main.crt/ <-- main site. http://www.main.crt/sites/sub/ <-- content of subsite http://www.sub.crt/ <-- sub site. So basically www.main.crt is the whole ZOPE process, while www.sub.crt should be mapped to a subfolder in www.main.crt, in a way that is transparent to user. For this to work, one just has to make www.sub.crt point to zope.cgi/sites/sub/... and add ZOPE_DROP_FOLDER=2 to the CGI environment. Apache Example: <VirtualHost ...> ... Servername www.sub.crt ... monitor_client_win32.py feature?

with the latest (nearly b1) code I find that info messages are somehow being propagated to the remote terminal. FTP unhandled connect event?

by mistake I seem to have cvs'd Zope2. It all works fine, but I notice some rather strange log messages now. FTP seems to produce unhandled connect events for at least some commands.
