File attachment in multipart form.

Hi, I have created a form which will allow user to attach a file with the submission. I would like to know how should I code so that the server will be able to read the attachment instead of just the location of the file. The following is the code that I use to generate my file attachment. <input type="file" name="attached_file"> I am pretty new to Zope, any help will be very much appreciated ;) -Charlene

New Proposal: Prototype Objects

The above proposal suggests a way to get new kinds of objects simply and in a more iterative fashion. Read the rough proposal above but here is the one line version: ability to create objects that are lightweight clones of another (prototype object) the behaviour of which is delegated to the prototype and the data is added to the new instance only at the time of modification.

Extreme wierdness with ZDebug

Hi, I just tried to run up a local ZEO client for one of our servers with ZDebug installed so I can try and see why something is happening. Now, on that client, none of the entity dtml gets parsed and evaluated (eg &dtml-blagh;) Of course, this breaks the management interface nicely ;-) I'm using Zope 2.4.0b3, ZEO 1.0b3 and ZDebug 0.2.1. Problems editing PythonScripts via WebDAV

Hi, Quite often when I open Python Scripts for editing via WebDAV, I only get a percentage of the file. It appears to randomly truncate at some poitn in the file. This is not good when you don't notice and then save it :-( Has anyone else experienced this? It does shake confidence in editing via WebDAV but I've _only_ experienced problems with PythonScripts. cheers, Chris

ZCatalog question

Hi Chris, Long time no catalog questions, I'm guessing you're still the appropriate person? Anyway, I'm trying to track down the bug I posted about earlier today and reading Catalog.py (or Zope 2.4.0b3) in the process. How come lines 672 to 679 seem to duplicate lines 637 to 643? Why not just use the sort_index calculated in the latter? I'm guessign I'm missing something... cheers, Chris

ZEO-strangeness.

This is very odd. We thinks. We're running ZEO with Zope 2.3.2 clients. Two clients. One client runs off of the server and another one from a workstation. http://server and http://localhost respectively. Calls to http://server takes ages (we're talking several seconds here; 3-4 maybe) whereas http://localhost is normal speed. That's the first oddity we don't grok. Data.fs contains a CMF-site. On http://localhost everything is working as one would expect, but on http://server stuff in the portal_skins Filesystem Directory Views are "gone". We know they're there (since we can access them over http://localhost) Urk? Tried the normal panicking-procedures - restart and stuff - but nothing seem to work. We've got a couple of those lovely "Could not load state"-messages in our logs too, why do these occur anyway? So, why are portal_skins/generic showing up differently on the two clients and why does calls to http://server take ages? (The two computers are on the same network.) Helpful hints appretiated :)

MemoryError after WebDAV'ing into BTreeFolder

Hi, I just tried editing a DTML method in a BTreeFolder with about 1000 objects in it via WebDAV. I never managed to open the file (WebDAV clietn just spun and spun) and after that, viewing any page in that BTreeFolder gave me: Error Type: MemoryError Error Value: Anyone got any ideas? cheers, Chris

meta_type()

Hey, gang. To make a long story short: calling meta_type directly is a no-no in my book (this goes for icon and, basically, any other attribute too). Any thoughts for the future about forcing meta_type() et al? (It would really make the process of writing Python Products - I don't know about ComponentArchitecture - much, much easier to automate.)

ASP pages in Zope

Hi folks, We are new to Zope so bear with these simple questions. We have a site developed in ASP and we are exploring the possibility of using a Zope like environment for future enhancements. We have the following questions: - Is there a way to reliably import ASP or Java files into Zope environment as Zope objects? - Does Zope support editing and viewing of ASP files, especially when multilingual character sets are involved? - Can Zope support unit testing of ASP files? - Is it possible that we can generate static snapshot of the ASP site in Zope by using a tool like zMirror or wget. Will Zope or one of its product be able to execute ASP and get data from DB and generate static HTML files. We have a feeling that this kind of thinking is in contrast to the basic Zope paradigm but we thought of asking the gurus anyway. Any feedback will be highly appreciated. Thanks - Singhera
