Hi, I sent the following message below to the list back on Jun 30 and never recieved a reply. Yesterday I tried all day to submit it to the Collector but wasn't able to (the Collector seemed to hang up on me when I did a submit). As I am very excited with the prospects of ZClasses I was really hoping that someone could let me know if what I describe below is an existing bug with ZClasses or not. Has anyone else seen the behavior I describe below? Any help in this matter would be greatly appreciated. I created a Product through-the-web and then created a ZClass within my newly created product. I then went to the Property Sheets tab, created a property sheet and began defining some properties. All fine so far... Then I created another property sheet. I went into this property sheet and began adding some properties. When I click on this link it loads the Help interface (the top level help frameset which loads the left and right help frames). win32 BTree seg - fix maybe

I have been having the exact problems in my setup. Looks like you need to go into the Setup file under lib/python and edit out all BTree, etc., build lines. What will happen is that Zope will instead build the BTree stuff using the Setup in ZopeZODB3. The only difference that I can see between lib/python/Setup and lib/python/ZopeZODB3/Setup is in the include parameters. Michel, I'm using the following external method because without it the Catalog won't let an object index itself. It's the one you sent me, but I get a NameError when I call urllib. Is there a special import I have to do to get access to urllib? Thoughts on '/'

Issues: 1. New Zope users often expect to be able to write  in order to get the effect of    2. In 1.10.13, at least, you can create an object with "/" in its id, with confusing and inconsistent results. Proposal: 1. Don't allow "/" in object ids. 2. Do allow tags with name arguments to treat  as equivalent to:      since it's so much more concise, and nicer than  (which I suspect of having slightly different semantics, as well). BTW, with this sort of thing should I just whip up a patch and send it to the Collector instead of testing the waters here? just-like-in-a-URL-ly y'rs Evan Simpson

Adding a ZClass via DTML

A couple days back, there was a good exchange that showed how to create a ZClass instance via an External Method. Is there a convenient way to do this via DTML? It's really easy to add a Folder or a DTML Method through DTML... Kevin

ANN: Universal Zope Build System (looking for better name...)

Hi, Located at: http://student.uq.edu.au/~s341625/ Is a new version of what was 'Zope for Windows'. ZwinG2.zip contains a snapshot of a python make utility, makefiles etc for a cross-platform Zope build script. Current only works for Visual C ;), however, it should take only 15mins to finish off the platform specific bits (hint, hint). It works by abstracting the makefile and implementing *.exe, *.obj and *.pyd rules in loadable platform makefiles. For VC it drives it using the cmdline. I've included binaries for Zope A4 and it appears to work great - no patches required! Simply type: make install make zopec (or zopew for no console and update the icon ;) make ZExtensions and that's it! Exactly the same procedure for: * Mingw32 * Cygwin * Unix (not started yet though ;) Could those people using mingw32 fix up the cygwin.zmake. It compiles but bombs on a link. I've also got a plugin which I'll release when it is stable which generates a self-installing exe and / or a completely self-contained Zope server (ie run the exe and zope starts right away, no python, zope source needed!!). maintaining a separate CVS branch

Hi - I would like to be able to track the Zope sources but add my own changes on another branch, so that improvements to the main Zope sources would be easier for me to integrate in with my own site-specific changes - can anyone out there who knows how to do this with CVS give me some advice? The instructions for setting up CVS on the Zope site only show how to track the latest version of the sources, and this sets up everything as just a read-only mirror, as far as I understand. Is it possible to instead do a 'cvs import' of the Zope sources somehow and then make changes on another branch, in some way that would allow new sources and local changes to be automagically merged? I've read through the CVS docs but can't really figure this out. Thanks in advance, Zope on! --Brian
