Zope Page Templates not working in Zope 2.4 b3 !!!!

Hi! Zope Page Templates are not working for me and a couple of other people when used with Zope 2.4 b3 (and earlier betas) binary on Linux. I put this into the ZPT issue tracker already. As 2.4 is in Beta 3 already, I am a bit confused about the problems I am still facing. Given that ZPT is meant to be the "next generation DTML" (at least to some extent), I'd have expected it to be fixed ASAP for the new Zope version. Cheers Joachim

Looking into the code I found that in DCOracle2.py the fetchmany() and fetchall() methods have the code if len(a) == 0: return None return a at the end. This cause an error when the (for example) SELECT do not return any rows. The result was None (instead of []) and the caller must test explicity this (see the ZMI test pannel of a database connection object, it return an error in this case). I suggest of remove the line if len(a) == 0: return None so them return 'a' that if there are not rows is []. - THIRD PROBLEM (but may be a <dtml-tree ...> ... </dtml-tree> problem) I want use a SELECT statement from ORACLE to feed a dtml-tree tag. I use it many times on old DCOracle and on ODBC, the code was <dtml-let inode="0""> <dtml-tree id=inode branches_expr="TREE_LIST(idParent=inode)" assume_children=1 skip_unauthorized=1> ....... body ..... </dtml-tree> </dtml-let> where TREE_LIST return the list of rows (idparent, inode, description) for idParent. And 'inode' was the 'id' that identify rows. The columns of this table was define as inode: DataType=NUMBER, Size=38, Scale=0 idParent: DataType=NUMBER, Size=38, Scale=0 description: DataType=VARCHAR2, Size=255 and when the dtml-tree try to use 'inode' as 'id' it return an error as it want to use it like a "method" to call to obtain the "real" id. I look the code and found that in TreeTag.py the tpRender method test if the 'id' argument was a 'simple_type' ( string, integer, or float) using: simple_type={ type(''):0, type(1):0, type(1.0):0}.has_key but the type of the value return from 'inode' columns whas LONG INTEGER (as for example 1003L) and so it try to call it. What do you think about this? A TreeTag bug? help! I've broken refresh

And life is just not the same without it! I had auto refresh working fine until recently. Today, if I change a py file I see the pyc file being regenerated, but only when I do a manual refresh. And I do not see the effect of the changes until I do a full zope restart. FWIW, several things happened lately: - I cleaned out some shadowed older product versions from /usr/lib/zope/lib/python/Products - I experimented with ZEO (but I'm not running it now), and - I rearranged the product quite a lot. __init__.py was changed, modules were split up, imports moved around, and there is a new sub-package "tests" which also contains a refresh.txt. Does this sound familiar to anyone ? -Simon

PersistentMapping

Hi, I'm trying to use PersistentMapping instead of a regular mapping object, but I'm running into some problems. When I add and remove stuff from the mapping it sometimes fail or removes the wrong thing. Do I need adapt my code to it, or should it be straight forward?

You might want to look at my PatchKit product that may provide the vehicle you need for your patch. It provides an override for the management style sheet (Among other unrelated patches). This also causes risk of locking yourself out of management, there are 2 ways around this problem; First is to ftp/webDAV in and delete the offending file. I've also added a SUPPRESS_CUST_MANAGE option, (for example abc/SUPPRESS_CUST_MANAGE/manage_main) when this is in the path it will stop use the core zope management interface instead of the custom ones. The problem with this is that i get a "<Override instance at 8189638>" instead of the DTML code that should be in place of the object. As well this option IS NOT thread safe. I'm looking for a better solution but i can't think of one? What do people think of this patch? Is there a better way to do this? Curiously Zope Hanging

Hi all, I have a problem with my Zope, he hangs unexpectly if i view a special Method which generates Diagrams with data from a PostgresDB. The data are selected by a timespan( default is 24 Hours ). The Method works as descripted bellow: First when i call foo, then the HTML-Code is rendered with some images-tags, which are generated by selects. The image tags are calling the method foo which returns image data. If i want my diagrams from 2001-06-01 5:00 to 2001-06-01 12:05 everything works fine. If i want my diagrams from 2001-06-01 5:00 to 2001-06-01 12:10 Zope hangs, no exception no log entry, Zope only hangs. If i want my diagrams from 2001-06-01 5:05 to 2001-06-01 12:10 which is the same timespan as example 1 Zope hangs too, no exception no log entry, Zope only hangs. If i view the postgres logs the nothing happens. Could anyone help me to find the problem or the place Zope is hanging thanks as P.S.: Exact the same problem occurs when i you another PostgresDA ????

Traversal Barf

I've been getting a puzzling error. It's not reliably reproduceable. It occurs perhaps one time in four when I'm using Opera. At first, it appeared only to be related to Opera, but now I'm getting the same error in netscape. I can just hit refresh and it works again. There's no sign of anything like ConflictErrors or the like on the console. Has anyone seen this before?
